This page is a gallery of photographs depicting the atmosphere and memorabilia of the Captain Waller Memorial Hall. The outside of the Hall as it stands today.
The Gun is a mounting that was removed from the HMAS PROTECTOR, displayed on Windsor Green in the Elizabeth City Centre, and recently relocated outside the Hall in commemoration of the Naval history of South Australia.
In the foyer of the Club stands this superb scale model of the HMS VICTORY which was donated by Mr B.A. Fitzpatrick in 1968. Also in the display case is Nelsonian memorabilia. The models at the right hand side of the display case are of RN warships donated by members of the Club.
Also in the foyer, opposite the VICTORY display, is the original Honour board for the Elizabeth & Salisbury Navy Club. The Commanding Officer's board from the HMAS YARRA is displayed on the right hand side of the Honour Board. Adjacent to both of these are YARRA memorabilia.
In the Hall, the original sign from the outer wall is mounted under a photograph of Captain 'Hec' Waller, RAN. Beneath the sign are plaques commemorating his service in HMAS PERTH(1)
In the Hall, adjacent to the above signs, is a collection of HMAS PERTH(1) memorabilia. In particular, at either side of the banner, left and right respectively, pride of place is given to a compass indicator and engine-room telegraph plate recovered from the wreck of the PERTH(1). The banner was originally used by PERTH(1) veterans on Anzac Day and, as there are sadly no survivors fit to march, the banner has been retired to permanent display in the Captain Waller Memorial Hall.
The model of the PERTH was kindly donated by Mr Jeff Uern.
Below, and to the left of, the compass indicator is a cartridge case also recovered from the wreck of PERTH(1) by Mr Dave Burchell. The display case below the cartridge contains various items of memorabilia from PERTH.
The HMAS PERTH bar reflects the heritage and hospitality offered by the Club over the many years that we have hosted units of the Defence forces visiting Adelaide.
In addition to a polished dance floor, the Club maintains dart-boards, pool tables and a convivial atmosphere for members and their guests. A wood fire is very pleasant in the winter, and the lounge is fully airconditioned during the summer.
